This guide is split between checking the operating system for Windows and MAC.

Which version of Windows do I have?

In this article, we till outline the ways you can see which version of Windows your PC is running, which will help ensure you purchase the correct software which is compatible for your computer.

Each version of windows does have a slightly different route to this information. We will display all routes for each version of the operating system. This will mean you may need to try multiple methods before been shown this vital information.

The most common way to find this information is by following these steps.

  1. press the Windows logo key + R
  2. type winver in the Open box
  3. select OK.
  4. This will show you which version of windows you are running

Windows 7 also has another route to see if you are using this version of windows.

  1. Click on the the Start icon (bottom left of screen)
  2. Type Computer in the search box
  3. Right-click on the Computer within the results (under programs)
  4. select Properties.
  5. Under Windows edition, you'll see the version and edition of Windows that your device is running
    Please note, Windows 7 is the name given to Windows version 6.1.

The most common way to find this information is by following these steps.

  1. click on the Apple Logo in the top right of your screen
  2. select About This Mac
  3. This will show you which version of OS you are running

What are the latest 3 versions of MAC OS

Office 2019 for MAC is only compatible with the latest 3 versions of MAC OS, so it is important that you are aware of which version your MAC is running before making your purchase.

The three versions Microsoft currently support are...

  • macOS 10.13: High Sierra (Lobo) 
  • macOS 10.14: Mojave (Liberty) 
  • macOS 10.15: Catalina 

Please note; macOS 10.12: Sierra (Fuji) - released 20 September 2016, is now being phased out by Microsoft support. We are therefore unable to guarantee the compatibility. 

We cannot guarantee the length of compatibility, as this is assigned by Microsoft. The latest information provided by Microsoft is that it will be compatible with the latest 3 versions of MAC OS. "To provide you with the best experience, Office for Mac supports Apple’s three most recent versions of macOS. Moving forward, as new major versions of macOS are made generally available, Microsoft will drop support for the oldest version and support the newest and previous two versions of macOS.
